Ability to assign custom hotkeys to any tool or instrument on ANY key + ability to assign pan, zoom, orbit + alt, shift, ctrl - on ANY mouse button in ANY combination, i sure drop down with FOUR variants is not enough.
Yes Please! Most of what I have to say has already been said but, this would be a huge benefit to have the ability to customize the keyboard for many users especially those coming from other softwares. I have used dozens of keystrokes in the past that save me a ton of time and taxing focus on menu picking. Additionally, it woud be great to have an interface to allow full control to assign/modify even the default hotkeys including multi-keystroke keys, for exmple 'vf' could set view to front. Also, if the keystrokes could perform a string of actions, for example selecting a menu pick and then setting entering some of the dialogue boxes to certain values.
I would love to echo the request for customisable keys! I like to have all the keys I use accessible with the one hand I leave on the keyboard all the time.
So far we're loving the keyboard shortcuts. One that we're still missing is "ctrl+tab" to switch between open tabs. This is similar to most browsers in Windows.
I also must agree... Shortcuts are awesome, but everything needs to have a shortcut...
The best way to do this to make a list of everything and then the user can select the 'shortcut key' themselves (or use the standard setup)
It is very different how people use their shorcuts
Me, as an example uses the shortcuts for 'home' 'look at' and 'accept' while other uses use it mostly for sketches (line, circle, box) and other users use it for features, while other users use it for everything
It is also important for those of us with a '3d mouse/spaceball' because the shortcut we want to map on our mouse/3d mouse is not possible...
please make shortcuts customaizble or at least make more of them like 'home' and 'look at'
That's great and all, but they can not be customized...So now we need that to get this upvoted seperately (for some silly reason). They really took the lazy way out and only gave a handfull of predetermined hotkeys. Most of the stuff that I actually want to use hotkeys for dont have them.
No, we don't. If you read through the thread completely without taking a silly shortcut (.sorry for the pun 🙂 you'll notice that her is a 3 step plan that will get us fully customizable keyboard shortcuts.
So far step one is implemented. However, there is no reason you should not also throw your core in the hat to reemphzise the importance of this Idea.
This has to be one of if not the most requested feature for coming up on 3 years now! Still we have very very few hotkeys. Adding a couple now and then is not going to cut it. We NEED A MACRO FUNCTION for efficiency and for 3D mice functionality! It was one of the very first things I tried to setup and was very disappointed to see it not possible. Whats the hold up???
I finally moved from 3DMAX a few months ago, a jump I was reluctant to do having built up a lot of experience in it.
I agree with the sentiment of a requirement of customisable keys......but its kind of already available now.
Now I appreciate this method isnt for everyone and Im certainly not selling anything here, but if you have a programmable keyboard then you can create your own macros now for perhaps 90% of actions.
Personally I use a 'G13' but there are plenty of others on the market and very cheap.
Now there is the 'toolbox' capability you can create a macro.
For E.g. 'shell' would be assigned a single keystroke by assigning 's,s,h,enter' as a macro.....job done (and almost every function can be added this way)
For those wanting a hybrid of the 'look at' function........'s,l,o,o,enter' would assign a macro to a single key
There is one thing that I cant seem to locate and was perhaps the most used single ket in 3DMAX, and has been referred to several times using different language, but I believe in MAX it was called 'zoom in to selection'. Its a shame this isnt here, clicking on any object and tapping a button to focus it central in the workspace is such a boon to productivity.......but perhaps 'look at' may be a work around for now?
For those wanting all the sweet bells and whistles remember this.....the funding mechanism for this software is radically different, 15 quid (sterling) and half a day programming yourself will solve most of your dilemas now.
Why can't it be like in AutoCAD and Inventor? So that you can type the first letter(s) of the command. Now it's very limited. For example: There is a shortcut for Trim, but not for Extend. There is one for Center-Diameter circle, but not for 3P. etc.
Why is it so hard to enable the option User can set a shortcut key for each command? Fusion 360 is an excellent software but is sinning in this regard.
Honestly can't stand the lack of programmable shortcut keys -- even an absurd oversight. I am highly dependent on shortcuts between my Razer Naga Epic and 3DConnexion Space Pilot Pro. Between these, I have 25 shortcut keys that automatically act program-specifically and rarely have to move my hands away from the mice. The lack of shortcuts means I can't align the ones I use now in SolidWorks for my normal work with those for Fusion. Please fix this and add programmable keys. Until then, I will continue importing parts. 😞
Also as someone with a background in entertainment/games it would be nice if we could set the Pan, Zoom and Orbit shortcuts to a Maya set up. I primarily us my tablet graphics pen instead of a mouse so I am missing a scroll wheel in general.
Therefore just zooming in and out is a pain.
Not sure if this can be set if custom shortcuts are supported or if this would be a separate thing in general.
As a poly modeller I am looking for new additions to my workflow, so an app like Fusion would be awesome for Hard surface/ HP modelling, not needing to worry about edgeloops and things like that and just get on with the creative process instead!
