Inverted X+ lathe tooling

Inverted X+ lathe tooling

This may be in the pipe: Some lathe equipment supports cutting from both X+ and X-, from dual turret machines on the high end to the Tormach on the lower. For one, the simulation and toolpath engine doesn't support this, ie, all tool paths are on the same side of the part. Although it's the same profile either way, it isn't a true representaion of what's actually happening. You can define the proper 'looking' tool in the Tool Lib, by rotating 180 degrees, but you have to play games with spindle rotation to maintain the tool's handedness, which will generate the wrong 'M' codes. I would like to see another check box that says maybe, 'X+'., which would indicate this, explicitly.

Thank you for brining this one up.  It is in the pipe.

As similar issue is wanting to use a boring bar to machine an OD.

I would also like to see this. Currently I use a modified post that uses the turret number to work around the issue

Turret 0 Front upright tooling

Turret 1 Rear upright tooling (X reversed, M3/M4 swapped)

Turret 2 Front inverted tooling (M3/M4 swapped)

Turret 3 Rear inverted tooling (X reversed)

This generates mostly correct tool paths but the positioning moves when you change turret can be a bit dodgy at times, especially when using gang tooling.

Yes please this is desperately needed!
