improved font rendering

The system fonts render well in F360 but I have quite a few that just show up as an empty rectangle. It'd be great to have that fixed 🙂

Very closely related but the fonts should stay vectors as long as possible into the design process.

If I type a word and extrude, I'm getting a ton of weird faces for no obvious reason.

@roambotics_scott is right ! Lots of TTF fonts do not render.

Could you fix this and also accept Open Type Font Support (OTF) please?

Getting this to 10 votes seems a very large hurdle but supporting more fonts and getting them to render properly would be hugely useful.

@roambotics_scott

If there are fonts that are not rendering it's a bug.  They should all show some kind of preview.

Do you have specific fonts that don't show up?

@colin.smith Nevis is the one that really bugs me (though I'm guessing you wouldn't do kering in the app anyway so I'm probably still stuck using SVG import for our logo)

Open Sans is another / more common one.

@colin.smith So much of them do not render:

Allora, Roboto, Neuropol, Corona LT STD, Droid Sans, Duality, Eurostile LT STD, Fritiger LT STD etc.

Lots of google fonts do not work even very popular ones : roboto, open sans, etc.

Lots of adobe Font folio fonts do not work either...

Futura font doesn't trace, nor can be used to engrave - there are many others.  Has this issue been looked at or addressed at all since 2015?

Why wouldn't a font trace?  Seems to be one of the most important things that should work in a 3D program. Also, is Kerning coming any time soon?

The 'explode text' function seems completely useless to me, why cant we just extrude it as a shape like in Solidworks??!! There is also no way to bend text around a shape with out creating a stupid amount of geometry for the workaround, a couple of basic commands such as 'circular text', or 'text along spline' etc.

One can extrude text without exploding it, if I understand you correctly. You type text into the text box on a surface within a sketch and are saying you can't immediately extrude without first exploding it?

If it doesn't work it may be the font that is having issues. I'll test it out when I get home.

It has worked fine for me however.
