Fully constrained sketch notice

Fully constrained sketch notice

All of the 3D solid modelling CAD systems I have worked with shows the sketch in a different colour (green seems to be the standard behaviour) whenever the sketch is fully constrained. This is very useful information to have, it would be a nice feature for all of us engineers who are very particular about having sketches fully constrained.

Totally agree on this one. I would enhance it to change individual sketch entities as you constrain the sketch. I use SolidWorks which colors unconstrained entities blue until constrained, which turns them black. This way you know as you go what constraints you need.

I was coming here to post this same idea. I cant believe it took us this long to think of this. I like Inventor's degrees of freedom functionality for sketches and assemblies. It would be nice to have that too. I would like to see an in sketch notification, and the sketch icon showing the sketch is fully constrained. I'm not sure how this will work with the way Fusion's timeline makes changes upstream whenever you make a direct edit. Perhaps you can choose to make a fully constrained sketch uneditable downstream, or choose specific dimensions to "lock". Also a warning icon next to the sketch icon showing there has been a change by a direct edit.

Great to see so much support for this one.  In fact, it is in the back log of ideas and we are looking into what it will take.  It is a fair amount of work to get this working properly, so we will keep you updated with how it is going.

Totally agree, the sooner the better.

Added as preview with June 2015 update hope to exit preview in Fall.

Fully constrained sketches also get a pin in the browser.

When I create a new sketch, something simple like a rectangle, add constraints, and dimensions, my sketch does not turn black. In fact all sketch lines are always purple.

Is this a bug?

I have the same issue too. sketch stays blue after fully constrained.

I would like to see the number of dimension/constraints missing to fully constrained sketch.

Maybe there is already this option...but i can't find it.

I too am looking for this feature however a fully contained sketched still shows up as blue for me. What version was this feature implemented in?

You have to go into "Preferences" and its under the "Preview" setting. Looks like its maybe still beta? Mine sort of works. But its better than nothing.
