Feature Request: Pattern on Path with percentage values or with „All"

Feature Request: Pattern on Path with percentage values or with „All"

Hi,

the command „Pattern on Path“ should get an „all“ distance or relative values (e.g. 100 %) analog to the extrusion command.

Screenshot 1: Shows the problem when constructing a timing belt

Screenshot 2: Shows the „all“ distance of the extrusion command

Why?

When I spread the the teeth of my timing belt with the command „Pattern on Path“ I first have to figure out the real length of the path. And this is a problem if you try to make it with parameters. The length of the path is changing with the distance and diameter of the timing belt pulley. And calculating the length of the belt in the parameter list is not very easy. So it would be great to have the possibility to fill in a percentage value in the „Distance“ field like 100 %.

A percentage value would also work with other paths than loops.

Percentage values would be nice and powerful in other commands too.

I'd really like to make a feature that shows up N times (evenly spaced) along a path.

Pattern along a path seems like it should work for this and (technically) it does, but it requires me to measure the path length manually and even then it does a pretty poor job of evenly spacing N bodies along a path without a ton of tweaking.

Hi All,

I can't seem to make a pattern along a path where I set the quantity and equally divide the path. Like AutoCAD can do.

Could this be added in a future update?

the essayist way is to use user parameters with two math functions then the paramater for the gap, yes it's not ideal but it works when we get driven dimensions it will be simple.

Thanks Daniel,

Will use your suggestion in the mean time.
