After clicking "New Component" the first thing you want to do is to name it. To do this it's necessary to mouse over to the text box with the name in it, click to select it and then to type the desired name.
SUGGESTION: after clicking "new component" the component creation pane should appear with the component name box already highlighted such that any letters typed will immediately start filling it out. Huge time saver. 😉
