Export face as DXF

Export face as DXF

I know this has been discussed in the forum, but I didn't see anything here as a suggestion.

Please streamline the workflow for exporting a face as a DXF, like in Inventor. I know I can create a sketch of the face, then export that. How about a simple right click on a face, export as DXF? Would make life easier, especially if you have quite a few sketches.

Edit: Click count for exporting 9 faces: Fusion 360 - 72 clicks, not including naming files or erroneous clicks.

Inventor 2016 - 18 clicks, not including naming files.

This is one of my top hopes -- maybe because it seems like it would have such a high return for users without a huge effort to implement. Beyond the fact that you currently have to make a new sketch just for exporting, the fact that construction lines are exported as well is annoying. That would also be resolved with an "Export Profile to DXF" feature. Anyone using Fusion 360 for cnc routing, laser cutting, waterjet, etc (anything that needs vectors to start with) would really benefit from this feature.

I need this feature very much! I suggest even better version of this. Which is ability to select many faces and export all of the profiles to one DXF. since this is ultimetly what every one of us wants.

Please please can you implement this, but not just to DXF. Possibly SVG also. Any ensure that all lines, are captured including splines.  Having been forced to move to Fusion 360 from Inventor due to affordability, this is really important if Fusion 360 is to be used for Laser cutting, Plasma cutting or any other 2D type work.

Many thanks

PDF is probably better than SVG. SVG seems to be problematic often because the files don't have (usually? Ever?) units associated with them. On the other hand, more file formats would be better for sure. (I personally have no problem with DXF output, opening in Illustrator.)

Yup, the more the better. The reason I mentioned SVG is that according to
wikipedia, its the industry standard. ( well , if there is such a thing as
a standard these days. I tried exporting a DXF from Fusion 360 from a
sketch and all the spline lines were missing.

Hi,

Yes, I know about splines problem. Let me guess - you trying to open it in
Inkscape. I've raised this concern once on this forum and Autodesk stuff
said that this is Inkscape problem, that they generate valid DXF and not
planning to fix it since they know better how DXF should look like (hence
it's their standard in a first place) (that's my interpretation, official
response was more politically correct 😃

In the end I limit myself to arcs in all my designs due to this problem.

Sasha.

Yes that's true, I was using Inkscape. I'll give Corel draw a try next .

Has this been resolved yet? Please let me know

No. Still using the workaround (which has been described here http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/export-face-as-dxf/m-p/5458033#M12920 )

I need this feature soooo badly.

we use SW and Fusion side to side everyday and this is one feature that I miss the most when working with fusion.

Typically, the ability to highlight a solid face and right click to save as a DXF is a massive time saver when working in the sheet metal industry when you have to create quick laser cutting files.

I keep my fingers crossed for this implementation to show up soon
