Dual Units Display

Dual Units Display

I realize that there are a few requests for Dual Units, but has anyone requested dual units throughout the GUI? This would be more efficient as I wouldn't need to do extra work calculating the conversion of units. Can we please be able to either go to document settings and make these changes. Alternatively, be able to right-click on a dimension and then be able to individually, group, or globally, Display Dual units? This could be defined using a simple check-box approach in the settings/preferences or a menu, etc. There are many ways to approach this feature. Thanks!

I realize that I can add a dual dimension to any dimension on the sheet by hitting that dimension and clicking the alternate units box and then adjusting the precision for the alternate dimension.

Is there a way to set that to a default so that as I make each dimension it will automatically create the dual dimensions and precision so that I don't have to edit every dimension after it is made?

I'd like to support this idea too.

I understand that the gui wants to display stuff in inches or mm per documents settings. If the user enters a dimension in the other units however, perhaps a flag is set on that dimension that forever and everywhere displays that dimension in either dual units, or the entered units (with the preference buried in the options).

Under the hood you can (and should?) use the document native units, just let me see what i entered for ease of use.

Thanks!

I, too, vote for Dual Units Everywhere as an option!

I would also like to have dual dimensions.
I often design in metric because that is my ecosystem but I have to design the part to function with imperial items. It would be nice to be able to display each dimension on a sketch as metric and imperial.

Solidworks has this.  This is an important feature when working in mixed measurement systems.  I realize most of the world is metric, but there are some industries (such as aviation) that still revolve around the imperial system.  When a dimension unit is driven in inches, it is kind of important to be able to see the inch dimension and not just the metric dimension.

The US is slowly moving over to Metric. The US military uses many metric parts, because they can find parts all over the world quickly when needed. Imagine waiting a few days for a 1/4' nut to arrive from 1/2 way around the world, where if metric was used a 4M nut is available down at the corner hardware store or can be scavenged off a broken bike laying in a pile along the road.  I didn't know that aviation was still clinging onto Imperial (inch) units.

I would love to be able to select a number of dimensions and then set dual units and precision all at once.

I am looking at the units in drawing, we can read 10 differents request, all of these ideas should be combine in one, the votes are actually spreaded and it look like these ideas are not so much prioritary, but all the request combine will show a totally different situation, units in drawing is not working well and it need a big design fix, we should also be able to clone a drawing to make a different unit version of the same drawing instead off having to restart from zero when the units are not well set when you creat the drawing. The units need to be made from a list mm/m/cm/in/feet that you can change when you want after all.
