Drive Components: Belts & Pulleys or Chains & Sprockets

Drive Components: Belts & Pulleys or Chains & Sprockets

I would like the ability to create Pulley belt system:

  • V-Belt (Multiple or single groove pulleys)
  • Timing Belts
  • Flat Belts

 or Chains/Sprockets:

  • Roller Chain and Sprockets
  • Conveyor Chains (electrical conduit)

This feature would allow me to create and animate mechanisms with realistic movement. See the below discussion for reference.

Yes , there should be such function . For a belt function I think its hard to revolve around pulley , because to show it flexible its bit hard , I have a idea . there should be a marking on belt like a white dot mark which will move on path of belt , it will look like the belt is moving around the pulleys .

Just came here looking to see if others wanted to do belt systems in Fusion.  I have a need for GT2 belts presently but will have to figure something else out as I can't really do this in Fusion.  Please add this feature!

NICE idea this feature should be there in fusion.

A shame, that there is no (at least no reasonable) way to crate a belt-pulleys-idlers system...

Hi all,

We need the ability to move a conveyor belt. The purpose of this feature is to help design robotics pick and place systems.

Let me assure you this is not just for show and tell.

Folks have been asking for this feature for three years now (at least). Any word on when it might get implemented?

Still following this and excited every time I see an update thinking this is becoming a real thing!

Is this feature idea ACCEPTED now by the Fusion360 dev team, or how is this going?

Status update, please.

I was looking for information on the way to do this. I didn't know it was not implemented in fusion 360 since in solidworks it is very simple.

@Anonymous C'mon man. It's only been four years. Give it another five more years or so.

To be honest, I don't think we will ever see features like this in Fushion 360. For the very same reason you can't make real production threads. Fushion 360 is for hobby users only.

While visualization would be nice, I think the key feature would be getting the right sizing for the belts or chains. Even if it is only giving the straight line of the center line of the belt or chain, users could adjust the value for the tension they want. With chains, the issue would be knowing the link count and how much slack there would be for that. Then you can adjust the design so the sprockets space right to be an even number of links.

Is this being considered?

Nearly every machine I have been involved with the design of over my 30 plus years as an engineer has had the need for some form of drive components. Chains, belts, pulleys, sprockets, sheaves and the lot are essential in the mechanical engineering world. I know it's old school stuff, but I assume most other engineers involved with designing machinery have similar needs.
