dimension a diameter from a centerline

It would be nice if you could dimention a diameter off a centerline in a sketch.   for instance, when I click a construction line and another sketch point,  if I keep the mouse on the side between the constuction line and the other point,  it should place the short dimention, but if I hover the mouse on the other side of the construction line,  it should snap to a symetrical dimention or a diameter dimention that extends the dimention line an equal distance across the construction geometry.

SWx  added this feature a few years ago and it is very usefull.  hopefully my description makes sense 🙂

It is currently possible to dimension a diameter off a centerline, although not exactly like you describe it. Just remember to right-click before poistioning out the dimension on the sketch, and choose Diameter Dimension in the menu (same functionality as in Inventor).

That solution works fine for me.   I'm still getting used to it, but it has one advantage that I can see.  In SWx  you have to use a construction line or a centerline to get this feature to work. 

It looks like fusion will do it with regular lines, which in my mind makes it more powerfull.

RMB for every diameter line is way to time consuming. And prone to mistakes. Having a defined centerline makes it simpler and faster. Why else would most others (inventor, SW etc) have the centerline option in their sketches. It works faster, defines the axis of rotation and is reusable for dimensioning.

Hi, it would be nice if the dimension would be placed on the other side of the construction line, not like in the picture attached. if you work a lot with symetric sketches, this would be better. -or is there already a way to switch the dimension to the other side?

@alexandwirtz Choose the line you want to be the centerline first, then you will get the dimension to display how you want it to.

Edit: The line you select first when dimensioning will be the centerline.
