Break section view alignment in drawings

Break section view alignment in drawings

It should be possible in the drawing environment to break the allignement between a section view, and the parent view. Currently this is not possible, and I have missed this option several times when there is little space on the drawing and I want to move the section view.

Hi @catot,

Prior to placing the section view (while the preview is attached to the cursor), pressing the Shift key will break the section view's alignment. Once broken, pressing Shift again will re-establish the section view's alignment. The same applies when moving projected and section views.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Andrew

@andrew.de.leon,

Thanks for that, that really helped! I didn't know that was possible, so then all is fine, and this idea is obsolete.

Feel free to change status of this idea, or delete it.

Thanks again.

Thanks for this thread!  I thought I was going crazy.  I know I can do this in Inventor, I figured I would have the same ability here.

I did exactly what @andrew.de.leon said to break the alignment between the different views, but it did not work for me.

I cant believe this is something you have to even ask for, another frustrating aspect of the very limited drawing capabilities. I'm tired of using multiple software solutions for making a decent drawing. You guys are in the same family as the premier standard drafting software and inventor which isnt perfect and insanely annoying but still better at 2d drawings! Why can't we just place a drawing where wed like to on a page!?

I missed the shift key solution above scratch my disgruntled remarks
