Perhaps not many people use as-built joints, but I find them useful. For example, I use them when positioning an item that needs to be mounted on a plate, running hoses/pipes to it, and locking its final location once I am satisfied. That said, the way Fusion presents the as-built joint icons is confusing to me.
When creating a normal joint (of the not-as-built type), the joint icon is located between the parts. This makes perfect sense. As-built joint icons, however, seem to spawn at random -- a-la re-spawning in Halo. While I am a fan of video games, I am not a fan of having to track down the location of the joint marker to edit it; it is typically faster for me to locate and edit the joint from the model than from the timeline.
The attached images show the joint icon (first image) and the parts that are joined (second image). Note that this is one example out of many in this model.
