Analysis/Section View enabled in CAM

Analysis/Section View enabled in CAM

I can do this in InventorHSM.

Having a section view of a part in CAM allows me to select internal features on turned parts much easier, especially when you have a narrow  groove inside a small ID. (We make fairly small parts).

Lonnie, this work around works temporary but if you use software on regular basis it is not going to work.

Anyway thanks

I agree that it is not a great solution and that hiding a body may contain the very geometry you need to select.  Just thinking it may help ease some pain temporarily.  The lack of any response does not give a good feeling that it is going to get any attention.

The idea was marked as implemented because the solution from development was displaying the translucent profile.

With that said, I agree, it doesn't solve the problem.  I will re open this.

@al.whatmough thanks for listening and changing the status

@al.whatmough

Were the enhancements that you indicated in the photos ever released into the product?  I can't seem to get them to work.

I know that I/we said that we still need section analysis in cam for geometry selection but what was shown was also very useful when highlighting an operation that was already generated. The ability to have a section analysis view active while editing an operation would greatly aid in geometry selection for internal turning, but for viewing operations selected in the cam manager I think what you had would work great.

Point is, I would like to have both of them as features.

@Lonnie.Cady yes, seeing the blue cross section was implemented.  Is it not working for you?

@al.whatmough I don't seem to be able to get it to work.  I was thinking that I saw it work once but could not remember.  But, no as of now I can't seem to get it to work.  Is there a setting I need to enable it? or a particular view setting?

@Lonnie.Cady right you are... it is only half implemented. I see the blue cross section by not the toolpath.

@al.whatmough slow down a little, Smiley Happy I can't keep up.  now it is marked as implemented.  Did you implement section view also?

Never mind, I see it is back to accepted

I just ran into this very thing while trying to check tool alignment with the part.

it has my vote yes!

Are there any plans for a solution to this???  This one and Toolpath Occlusion were requested back in 2015.  The one was archived due to lack of votes.  Wire frame is not a solution to this issue.  It is nearly impossible to work on small parts internal features that need confinements set.

Please provide an example video of how ADSK team is currently selecting internal groove features maybe I am just doing it wrong.

@Lonnie.Cady - this is definitely something we want to do and have discussed internally. As you know, we are in the middle of redoing turning in Fusion/HSM. So look for good things to come that I am certain users will appreciate.

What is the current solution to view a cross section of a part in CAM Mode. I have a small port that i am trying to cut using a surface type tool path and cannot get to the geometry very easily. IF i had a cross section view that would allow me to pick geometry from it would greatly simplify this process. This is the View i can create in MODEL mode and would like to be able to have in CAM mode.

There's been a lot of cam updates for turning. Did I miss this finally coming or it on the way?

Pretty big deal, and also could be very intuitive could be as simple as picking turning and it has a checkbox for section body and it defaults to cutting the model and simulation stock in half.

I suppose you could mark this as implemented now.

Yes @mfeathers, it certainly is available now. How do you like it?
