Ambient lighting in rendering

Ambient lighting in rendering

I am drafting Design patent drawings from CAD files, and find that the Scene Settings lack one specific Environment: lighting from everywhere. All Environments have a rotatable light source, like a flashlight, even in Photobooth, and this creates undesirable  effects such as distortions and shadows, skewing the views. I waste too much time looking for just the right angle, setting everything "Front" or "Top" view, and then messing with the results in Photoshop.

Please implement an Environment where the light comes from everywhere, not like a flashlight.

why bother with renderings for patent drawings? Why not just do a "Capture Image"?

Capture image (as in "Model" --> File --> Capture image)  gives me the stitch lines that are between the parts that make up the component. The client wants smooth CAD-like drawings. Am I doing something wrong?

Try changing visual style to "Shaded" rather than "Shaded with Visible Edges Only".

That's actually not a terrible result. It doesn't give me that crisp edge of transition portions, but I'll try it for the next component!
