Add some missing drawing features like in Inventor

Add some missing drawing features like in Inventor

Hey guys,

another point on my list are some drawing features I am missing. In Inventor there is the possibility to cut through the object to make it fit on the paper.

I also miss the feature to make a cut to see where my bearings are or where my parallel key sits.

One more thing is the option to cut out a quarter of a shaft for example.

These are simple features but we really need them to create a good drawing over here in Germany.

Check out the examples below:

Check out the 'Break out' view modify tool and let us know if is what you are looking for?

Hi @PaulMunford,

the break out is just a axial cut through the shaft. What I am looking for is the option to cut out from a sketch exactly like in Inventor to show some hidden features on the shaft like in the picture above. The other function is the option to cut out just the quarter of the shaft and the coppler etc. like in picture 2. Actually I need to cut this part out with the extrude command and then I need to add the hatching by myself. You know what I mean?

Best

Chris

My Bad, I answered this question from my mobile and it's hard to tell that this is the Fusion Board and not the Inventor Board - sorry 😕

@PaulMunford No need to worry 🙂

Just one more reason why we need this feature in Fusion 😄

I would definitely use this on a daily bases, a must have for Fusion.

Thanks for making the request.

Very interested on this, please Fusion developers, consider to implement this function.

Hi Chris

Inventor drawings options are far superior and varied than fusion.

I can see that Fusion is heading in the right direction but it seems the drawing environment isn't getting the momentum of other environments.

One of the main things I miss is being able to manually sketch on the drawing and use these entities for dimensions that are sometimes  impossible to pick up any other way on complex geometry.

I sometimes complete designs between both systems using there strong points, then do the detail drawings in Inventor if required.

Cheers

Hi @Anonymous,

I do the same but I prefer to do everything easily with one tool. But there will be an update so lets see how it will work after that! 🙂

Cheers

Drawings is the weakest part of Fusion from a professional users standpoint. I create working drawings daily and I'm frequently forced back over to inventor to get the dimensions I'm looking for.

On top of the break command I also need the ability to suppress views, dimension cut edges (eg. thread flanks cannot be selected in Fusion but they can in Inventor) and import model dimensions to name just a few.

Yes, it would be great if these features are included:

1. Zig-zag/broken lines for uniform/pattern bodies to decrease space they occupy

2. Half-sections and broken-out sections

3. Summetry lines and option to insert only half the view in case of summetry

4. Manual/custom diameter centermarks and lines for pitch circles and lines of gears (incl splines)

5. Non-scale dimensions for broken lines
