Add scale and rotate to the sketch tool box

Add scale and rotate to the sketch tool box

I think Fusion needs a scale and much more important a rotate tool for the sketch engine tool box.

I really miss it and do not want to draw and build reference geometry with constraints to simply rotate a line

precisely.

Any update on this?

If it is already implemented, please let me know because I can't find it anywhere.

If not, it's just riduculous that this most basic feature is missing.

I searched for this within the software for some time because I wasn't even considering that it could be lacking the ability to simply scale and rotate 2D geomety.

This is possible in literally every single other software I have used, high or low end, where you work with splines, curves or lines in any way.

Why wouldn't it be?

Please at least let us know if or when we can expect this.

Thanks.

There are two requsts in this thread, and we've overlooked one.  To add a bit of clariry, the current state is as follows:

  1. Ability to rotate sketch entities within a sketch.  This has been resolved by adding rotational manipulators to the exisiting Move command.
  2. Ability to scale sketch entities within a sketch.  This is not currently possible.  It was marked as "Accepted" as part of this thread, but has not yet been implemented.  We are tracking this internally as FUS-13866.  I will follow up.  Until then, scaling the entire sketch (by selecting the sketch from the browser) may be an alternative for some.

A few related questions regarding scaling sketch entities:

  • Would you expect dimensions to scale along with the selected sketch entities?
  • Would you expect that some constraints would be removed, depending on what was scaled?

For reference, Fusion removes dimensions and some constraints when sketch entities are rotated.

Changing the status of this request to "Under Review".

Thank you,

Charles

OMG! this would be incredibly useful!, stunned that it's not already part fo the tool. It's something that is badly needed.

Hi guys, any updates on scaling sketch entities within a sketch?

Btw, the only workaround that I've found is to get my dwg curves on the drawing space, extrude, and then scale and place the extrusion wherever I need to.

Thanks!

You will be able to scale sketches after tonight's update! http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/june-22-2016-update-whats-new

I just discovered that most dimensions (linear, diameter, radius) are deleted after using the Sketch Scale tool?

Is that intended? My experience with other CAD systems, the scale tool would adjust the dimension values by the scale factor.

Will a future version of the Sketch Scale tool preserve the dimensions?

Jerry
