The UX team wants to learn about your experience working in the cloud and Offline Mode, so that we can continue to improve our collaboration features.

 • Do you find on design data in the cloud helpful? Have you had troubles with syncing data / privacy? Have clients requested you work offline?

 • Do you use Offline Mode today? Why or why not?

 • How do you typically share data that was created in Fusion 360? Why do you like to do it this way?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

If this is in regards to the upcoming subscription deadline, I would love the ability to work exclusively offline with the ability to access the cloud features as needed.

My main concern is that my computer operating system is nearing end of usability due to Fusion only supporting 2 versions back from the current one.

I have had to repeatedly upgrade my operating system due to opening the program only to find out that it does not work anymore due to the program not supporting my version of OS.

Opting in to a version upgrade would be great for those who are not able at the moment.

It was mildly frustrating during my occasional use, but if I have to pay each month/year/3year, then I would be very upset if in the middle of a project I would have to upgrade hardware in order to run the OS required.

I have a CaseNo open on this as of today. Hoping to get some good news.

I often work in a remote location with no wifi. Offline is no problem for regular design work with occasional check ins using a cell phone.

Version can be solved by using Save As and including a version number in the file name. A pain and should be included in offline mode.

Fix the versioning problem and drop the 2 week limit for offline and I'd only use the cloud to get current version and occasionally for some of the features only available online.

I use Offline Mode a lot especially when teaching Fusion 360 and its uses, as the rural locations attended often have poor or no WIFI. For the most part this works very well, except for a delay sometimes when Saving As. I can imagine Autodesk is having to make difficult business decisions and am confident the right forward thinking decisions will continue to be made, including keeping the Offline Mode functionality and incorporating it with the 10 active document limit for the personal use license, which many "lifelong learners" fall into.

If the internet is slow working online is slowing down the program. Thus, I try to work in the offline mode. But this comes with disadvantages like saving a new part and moving it into another component doesn't work. Its also annoying that parts that are not in the offline mode can't be seen in the Data Panel. Therefor I always have to switch online to do this work and then I have to go offline for a better working program.

Im Wörterbuch speichern

Keine Wortliste für Englisch -> Deutsch...

Eine neue Wortliste erstellen...

Kopieren

These are great points.

Would you work offline more if there was the same functionality as online?

And do you need Fusion's cloud capabilities to share data? Or do you tend to use another tool/method for this?"

***************

I find the time it takes to open (download) a file and the time it takes to upload on exiting to be a huge negative, and would work offline nearly 100% of the time if possible. I have worked offline and prefer it, but have been shut out when my internet was down and I didn't have a cached copy on my HD, and one time I had exceed the number of offline days allowed. I simply cannot afford the time to constantly take extra steps to update and make offline copies, and them keep them straight and synchronized.

I am working for a living, not playing, when I am doing CAD/CAM. Between that and occasional forced Fusion 360 updates that cause performance and/or functionality problems, I have lost many days worth of hours of productivity.

Fusion 360 does have a lot of great features and functionality, but after investing 26 months of learning (and re-learning) and using Fusion 360, I am frustrated to the point of reluctantly shopping around for another CAD/CAM package.

Hi,

I also am curious when this ITAR compliance would be met by fusion 360. Lawrence Berkeley Labs is currently interested, so we are waiting on whether or not this is an option for us (about 25 seats worth). I have noticed that there's a few posts about this dated back to about oct. 2017, I second the opinion that commercial entities would love to use this, since it's such an amazing cam software. please help!

It honestly seems like it wouldn't be that hard of an option to just save files locally to my machine to avoid cloud storage, but I'm not a coder, so I have no idea lol.

Best,

Marco Pelayo

New to Fusion 360, and only been using it a few days, but I find the cloud features detrimental to what I'm doing.

I don't need design data in your cloud. I run my own version control and would greatly prefer to just use it for all my files to begin with since that's how I store any related software or other data. Having my code versioned in TFS or git (or whichever I happen to be using for a project) I don't want my CAD data elsewhere.

I can't use offline mode because I need to export to STL and that doesn't work locally for some reason.

I don't share data.

I would happily pay a flat licensing fee for Fusion for personal use if it was fully functional without the cloud. Export in particular needs to be local.

Absolutely, i agree. I wouldn't put it in the same words, but I (DOE) would love to use fusion 360 for Berkeley National labs Cam software for our machines, but are unable to. My bosses would also have no issues with a licensing fee for offline functionality.
