Slider joint direction

Hi, I'm trying to setup a rotating cam joint but I can't figure out how to change the direction for the slider joint. CHanging the limits doesn't help as the pistons never make contact with the CAM. No matter where I put my mouse the direction is always wrong. Surely there must be a way to flip it that I'm missing!

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Hi @reidsteven On the motion tab you will see a slider direction control. You can choose, X, Y, Z or custom.

Let me know if that helps. If not, if you could attach the file or describe what is or isn't happening, that would be great.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hey thanks for the reply, unfortunately doesn't help. I have the right axis just not the right direction, so the whole assembly works but the pistons don't slide down in the right direction. For some reason they only added X,Y,Z in one direction. If I set one of the rods to it's home position the CAM interacts with it, But when I animate the CAM the rods don't fall in to place because they're wanting to go in the opposite direction.

Is there any way you can record a short video of what it is doing?

One more thing you can try in case it helps. Change the order of what you choose first and second.

Thanks,

Kevin

Here's a GIF you can see that I'm picking an edge, so using custom (only edge suitable) but it only goes in one direction and if I pick using axis it's also the wrong direction.

Sorry it's not very clear

Sorry never realised the dialogue boxes don't show in the capture, but I selected the axis as well to show you

I'm not really following what is happening. Can you record it so you show the motion that it applies that isn't correct?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hey, sorry it was late here when you replied 😄 Got it working though! just made some geo with a longer edge so I could use custom.
