I want to return a component to a zeroed out state.  Is there some reset for this?

Unfortunately, there is no "reset transform" for a component.  That would be a good Idea Station idea.

I would use Align to do this.  If you make the component's origin visible, and you select the origin of the component, and the global origin with the snap point oriented in the same plane, you can force the component to return to match up with the global origin.

Here is a screencast:

Or, if am not mistaken the move commands for that component that have been collected in the timeline can simply be deleted ?

Eddie: Ahhhh...forget that. The user moved the body possibly within the component , not the component. Perhaps we still need to explain the difference between components and bodies ?

To move a component back to the origin, simply use the align/move function..

Got it, thank you.  Another nice little lesson.  You should have a library by now of such.

Smiley SadTrippy, yes of course - I'm really slow taking up the timeline aspect of modeling.
