Parts List Identical Part Quantity

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have a drawing with multiple identical parts in it.  I would like to be able to have these identical parts all grouped under one listing on the parts list with the quantity showing the total number.  Currently I only know how to get them into the parts list as individual entries which makes the parts list unnecessarily long.  I have seen in some instances that my parts list has done what I am wanting to do but I do not know how to configure my components so this will happen when I want it to each time.

Hi @Anonymous,

Jeff Strater described how to ensure your parts list quantities are correct in this post : https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/multiple-of-same-component-in-parts-list/m-p/6569533, which is to use Copy/Paste.  You may already have components placed in your design which are not true copies, which is why you are seeing multiple entries in the parts list. What I would do is to copy and paste one of the components and then use the Modify > Align command to move the newly pasted component exactly on top of one of the components you are trying to replace.  Once you have it moved, you can delete the component which is not a proper copy and then repeat this process over again.  You should always select the same component to copy.  This should fix your parts list.  Let me know if you need more details or help.

Thank you,
