Need guidance on using extrude on a curve

As the titel states I am attempting extrude on a curve shape. I and making a letter for a sign and I am cutting channels for LED strips inside it. The straight surfaces work just fine but any curves won't work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thank you in advance. I am new to Fusion360 so still learning.

Channels work fine until theres a curve.Channels work fine until theres a curve.

If I understood your requirement correctly, there are several ways to do this, e.g.:

1. Make s sketch at an offset plane and use Intersect to get the profile and use it for Thin Extrude (adjust Distance, Wall Location and Thickness to get the cut you want):

2. Make a profile of cut at a cross section plane (again Intersect helps) and use it for Profile of a Sweep together with edges selected as Path:

I have included both in an example file attached.

Personally I like using combine-cut for stuff like this. Where you model up the full negative shape as a solid and use it to create a cavity. As if you were creating a cavity mould?

Hi,

The easiest way to do this is with an offset extrusion as shown in the screencast.
But why don't you share your design as @aliobidi  recommended?

Got everything to work. Ill probably have more questions as to why certain steps were done just so that i understand the reasoning. That way i can apply that to future designs. Thank you!!!

Hi,

I made the projection just to demonstrate the process of extrusion with offset on an unprocessed object, and at the same time use it to create the channel profile.
