I am working with a very complex mesh and want to make slices into it as a mesh without converting to a brep first, which has issues of too many faces or open brep body. I know I can select either with the mouse or drag a square around the mesh area I want to delete. I have been using this method with some success. I want to use a sketch for better accuracy and to have, if possible, the ability for Fusion 360 to remake the adjoining triangles of the mesh match the sketch lines used for my purposes....
Folks have said that meshes are inherently fussy about cutting and such, but in the attached pics I lay out what I would like to see happen...if possible
Pic 1 is the mesh with a sketch drawn around the area I want to edit (delete).
Pic 2 is the area selected using the current mesh selection tools (dragging a box around the area to edit) this leads to triangles that cross over the boundary of the region I want to effect.
Pic 3 is a close up of the area with the sketch line and the selection box area shown. This shows the problem encountered when using the selection box to make edits to meshes. The triangles that cross the sketch line are selected also making a mish-mash of the effort to make a clean line delete or edit.
Thanks,
Richard

Hello,
Did you try to use Meshmixer and its "Plane Cut" tool?

I downloaded the MeshMixer program and it works well...thank you for the tip...
One question I have is using the Plane Cut tool, you control the degrees of rotation with the mouse but it is not accurate....try to get it to 90 degrees but cannot stop it exactly on 90...always a little less or more....
Am I missing something....I try to input a value but when I let go of the left mouse button it takes away the rotation window. I cannot see a way to set a specific rotation for the Plane Cut tool.
Thanks
Richard
Thanks for responding, I will just use Jerome's suggestion and use Meshmixer as it seems to work for what I want to accomplish.

Need to put your cursor closer to the widget to bring up rotation snapping: http://help.autodesk.com/view/MSHMXR/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-23DF16CC-64E0-4399-A271-867A3A146207

It's hidden under Netfabb:

Yes this is what I used, but it would be much easier to have an input box for the actual degrees that you wanted to move the cut plane....fortunately while we were having these discussions I found that Fusion 360 also includes a Plane Cut in the Mesh menu and it does exactly what I need and has a input box for the degrees needed...so all is good.
Thanks for the input and help. I very much appreciated it.
