I have a few questions about creating drawings.

Hi,

I'm working on the beginners challenge at this URL.

https://www.reddit.com/r/cad/comments/59th79/weekly_challenge_2/

Here is the drawing from the challenge that I have to work with.2.jpg

Here is my drawing that points out a few of my questions.

1. How do I add dimensions to the 3d view of my drawing like in the drawing from the challenge? I can only seem to add dimensions to the flat views in my drawings.

2. How do I remove the lines I pointed out in my drawing? The drawing I have to work with don't show them.

3. Do I have any control over the dimension arrows being inside or outside?

4. Do I have any control over the font size of the number in my drawing?

drawing.jpgHere are my shared links to my model and drawing,

Thanks!

The Ø30 and the R7.5 are dimensioned incorrectly (on the original). You have the 30 dimensioned correctly.

Circles should be dimensioned as Ø and arcs as R.

Your hole should go all the way through (unless you have information that states otherwise).

Yeah, I had in my mind that the hole should go all the way through, but I see now that I accidentally extracted it up at one point when I should not have. Can't believe I did not see that myself.

I also have turned off tangent edges on my drawing now.

"The Ø30 and the R7.5 are dimensioned incorrectly (on the original)"

Guess I can't always assume what ever drawing I'm working with is done correctly.

"Circles should be dimensioned as Ø and arcs as R."

I was wondering what the meaning of the Ø was when I seen it on the original drawing and forgot to ask in my original post. I have some idea now.

Thanks for your helpful reply.

You should constrain the circle for your hole in Sketch1 at the Origin Center Point.

It is generally better to do Chamfers as placed features rather than as sketched features.

R=Radius

Ø=Diameter

Hi John,

I'm trying to answer some of your questions in your original post:

Question1: Currently Fusion 360 doesn't support adding dimensions to the 3d view(Isometric view).

Question3: Currently controlling over the dimension arrows being inside or outside is not supported.

Both requirements are very good and in our product manager's radar.

Question4: Yes. You can control the font size by going to Annotation Settings->Annotation Text HeightFontSizeSetting.jpgRegards
