How to align an object on an angle.

Hi

I want to align a vertical plate 10mm thick on an angle on another flat plate.

The angle the plate needs to align on is off the xy axis.

The align tool seems to only allow centering on the straight.

It would be handy for my project if I could align a base surface at two points, like the two edges of the vertical plate to two location points on the horizontal plate.

Or as you can see here, the two holes in the vertical plate with the holes in the horizontal plate.

I just cannot work out how to do this.

Kind Regards

Hi

I have my frame that I am working on and now I need to test the location of items.

To do this I want to wrap a skin around the frame, and I only have the skin in a flat 2d drawing.

Is it possible to do and would you be able to advise me on how to do it.

I have attached the file with the frame and skin in it.

By the way, thank you for all your skilled advice so far, you have all helped so much in working out my problems.

Kind Regards

Hi

So it appears I need to start from scratch. I believe this also means I need to remain Fusion360 native and not import dxfs in.

I started using the measurements I know for a frame design and used the sketch tool to create the top plate. Once I had what I needed I closed the sketch and extruded areas.

I did delete some lines off the sketch, which I hope is appropriate.

Could you check this very basic plate for the frame and see if I am the right path.

Did you read the material I referred to ?

Read at lesat the body-vs-componentt and Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1.

If the New frame is going to be a design with more than a single body and sketch, that sketch and body should be in three own component within that design.

Also, make sure that you have fully dimensioned and constrained your sketches.

Hi

I read through the links you sent but not well enough.

I will have to get my son to have a good look at them for me and explain it to me.

I will do a thorough look tomorrow before I go any further.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi

Thank you for your patience with me.

I have been spending time trying to understand the data you provided.

1. What I can see is that the fundamental problem with my frame work is the issue of components and bodies. What I can see is that a component is made of bodies. I assume, with my frame that is made of 8 to 10 parts that the frame is the component and the parts are the bodies. With any of the frames I have made so far, I haven't started with creating a new component, but just started inserting external dxfs, which become bodies. So is this line of thinking correct, or am I still missing the point?
2. The next thing is, should I stop inserting dxfs into the project and instead sketch up the parts or bodies in fusion, extrude them and keep everything native to fusion?
3. The final issue, is I was looking at the time line of the frame project I sent you and I can see alot of errors with the align tool I have been using. Is my constant usage of align a problem. I have basically made the frame top down, like the top plate, side supports, middle plate, bottom plate and added extras using the align tool. Is this method wrong, as in should it be bottom up, or should I be using a different tool than align, like using the joint tool?
4. I take it then that wrapping a flat object around a cylinder is not possible to do in fusion?

I hope you can help, as I really want to start using fusion correctly and create my projects right from the start.

Kind Regards
