Hey guys, just wanted to post and show a project that I'm working on currently. Been doing mostly smaller objects to learn the basics and decided to try something a little more complicated. It's been a learning experience working thru the in and outs of the program. Still have the entire back portion and adding in various details. Looking forward to completing it and printing it on my printer once it arrives in the next couple of weeks.
I hadn't thought of that.
Yes, that's of course the iconic Colonial Marines weapon. That's actually an air soft variant, so it does differ from the one built for the film
Depth of the item and how to determine that (and I have hundreds of pictures) is where I'm having some problems. I've started to try and build it in a more organic manner (that is not just concentrating on the side view, but also filling in as much of the overall shape and then trying to refine it.
It's annoying that there are parts on eBay to do a conversion from the Thomson to a pulse rifle, but nothing has any sort of scale. I know a small number of details, but now how to extrapolate those, especially when the images are on angles.
Perhaps try and simulate similarly angled construction planes and draw on them at an angle. 🙂 For example. This image from an eBay seller gives me a very slight bit of information that could literally size the entire front portion of the weapon for me.
Likewise there is another part, the front of the plasma barrel and shotgun barrel that I know the diameters of (from the information on the rounds used in the movie) but again, not on a straight on shot).
Is there a suggestion on how to make this information easier to determine using Fusion and odd construction planes?
