Fusion 360 Outputting Drawing to DWG Contains No Geometry

Anonymous
Not applicable

I made a drawing in fusion and want to output it as a DWG. When I output it the file only contains the dimension lines but no geometry lines. I'm using Draftsight 2017 x64. When I open the file it says "shape file not found genltshp.shx" I got the shape file and use it when I open the file but still doesn't work properly.

Anyone encounter this problem and have a fix?

Hi Joel,

There have been other posts about this before, like:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/views-are-missing-in-drawing-dwg-export/td-p...

and

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/dwg-versions-using-drawing-outputs/m-p/64947...

But basically the drawing view objects we use are not supported by non-Autodesk programs.  As I mentioned in the threads above, you can use an Autodesk product like AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, or TrueView (this is a free download for Windows).  If you want to export specific geometry to DXF (for use in CNC, etc.) the most straightforward way to do this is by saving the sketch geometry (from the Model, not Fusion Drawing) to DXF.

Can I ask what specific editing you are looking to do that is not currently available within the Fusion Drawings environment or what do you want to use the output drawing for?

Thanks,
Chris
