just to reinforce the struggle I have with the current sketch 3D engine - might explain the ideas I posted.

Hi Claas,
Thanks for recording the video and proving the feedback. It looks like there are some confusion for Fusion 3D sketch.
At present, the 3D sketch in Fusion still needs a plane to start with, just like the 2D sketch. There is an option in the Preference dialog to “Allow 3D Sketching of lines and splines”. When it’s enabled, we can create lines or splines by snapping to body edges/vertices.
Through this way, we create “3D” objects even if they look like stay on the single sketch plane in some cases. Also, when creating 3D line/spline by snapping to a body edge or vertex, Fusion will automatically include the body edge or vertex so the association can be kept. In your video, you also mentioned some edges were automatically included.
At present, a 3D sketch object (take spline as an example) have following limitation:
To check if a spline is 2D or 3D, we can just select the spline or tangent handle and right click. If there is a command called “Move to sketch plane” in the context menu, it’s a “3D” spline.
Hope the above information is kind of helpful for understanding of the 3D spline. We definitely need some work to improve the capability of 3D sketch. Please keep the feedback coming so we can do better.
Forgot to mention, we can use the "Move to sketch plane" command to move the 3D line/spline onto the plane where the sketch started with.
