I would like to remove the face or side of the box marked with a red x, without destroying the side if possible. Any suggestions would be so appreciated...thank you.

Delete face will probably remove the side but it will also get rid of the side. It kinda depends on how your model is created. Please attach the model if you can. Open model, select File, Export to your hard drive. Then attach it using the Attachments section in the forum post.

I did not hear back from you about attaching your model so I decided to do a quick demonstration on how I would do it. You ask to remove the wall and do not destroy the body. Take a look at the Screencast. My box is square and from your picture yours has rounded walls but he method will be the same. The only difference is you will have to create a sketch plane since you cannot sketch on a curved surface.
I have attached my model is you want to look at the steps.

Thank you so much John for the excellent video help!!! Very impressive and appreciated. Here is my model, it crashes when I try to do similar. Remember I am a beginner and probably butchered many things up, BUT the model is exactly what I want so far 😀. It is the outer "Door" that I want to open.
The reason you are having issues is the fact you have no reference bodies in your supplied file. If you notice, as I point out in my Screencast, that big read square at the beginning of your timeline means you have real issue with this model. You were working with a "cached" body only. I recovered your model using the Insert Derive command into a new file. This process removes all the links, bad ones in your case, from the new model body. I can then perform the same technique I showed you yesterday to change the one side of your body you call a door into a separate body. You can do what you wish with the body when finished. My model is attached which is the recovered file.
Since you are a beginner in Fusion 360 you must remember model required history hierarchy features and bodies must be maintained. For example, if I have a block and I put a hole through it, I cannot get rid of the block because the hole depends on the block being there. Something similar happened to your model. You deleted something from your timeline that was required for the body you were currently working on. There are two options, when you click on a body in the Browser, Delete and Remove, learn to use Remove more than Delete. Remove essentially deletes the body, as far as you are concerned, but leaves the necessary "data" in the model to support dependent features.

Thank you again John! That was so well explained that even I could follow it. Will go back and do a couple of lessons to reinforce your points.
