Subtracting from extruded lines in for it doesn't show as an option

I can subtract from two shapes created as shapes, but if I try to subtract from a shape created by extruded line work, than the option doesn't exist!

i was trying to subtract the top cylinder in a variety of locations on the shape below it and it won't allow me to.

on the iPad version, make sure you have both objects selected. Then tap and hold on the object you want to cut from - you will see two boolean options on the bottom left of the context menu, one for cut and one for join. I hope this helps!
