Sketchup to FormiIt to Revit

This is our first time using FormIt 360, really like the program.  We are bringing Sketchup geometry and converting it to Revit 2016 using FormIt.  Our problem is trying to tag the geometry once it comes into revit. We really dont want to have to go into each and every family and add a shared parameter and we'd rather not manually name every family.  The parameter we'd like to have read is "FormIt360GroupName", as an example: our parts come in with the family name of "FormIt360_Group_Group#1756" - what we would like to have report to a Revit schedule or tag is the "1756" part of it.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I am pretty sure I understand the request - but I want to make sure of your use case - especially since we support different categories (mass, generic, site, etc)... You want to use some metadata from the FormIt file (now we only export a unique family name) to tag and / or schedule in Revit - do you need all FormIt elements to show up in the same schedule? Masses don't show up in Multi-category schedules unfortunately.

The basic issue you have with the family name output as is, is that the non-unique text isn't necessary, you only want to see the unique info - like a specific name, or the # that we automatically increment. So you want a way to strip away some of the unneccessary info?

I don't know of a way in Revit to strip out text from a family name (or filter it out in the schedule), without using some sort of Dynamo script or other add-in.

So it could be more of a request to the product team to output data from FormIt with a family name (as is) and a unique identifier that you could schedule against? Again, please let us know what you're scheduling as the specific use case can be helpful - though in general I agree with your request, it'd be nice to give you downstream data in the most consumable format.

Thanks!

Tobias
