Sketchup model missing in Revit.

Hello,

I have imported the Sketechup model to FormIt and change its categories from "Mass" to "Furniture" then convert to Revit, it takes time to upgrade the model from Revit 2016 to Revit 2018 and end up nothing was imported in Revit. Anyone knows why? Thank you very much.

Hi business_girl001,

In FormIt, try hitting shortcut DW to turn on watertight issues. Do you see any red lines? If so, you'll want to try cleaning these up - either filling in holes where the solid is non-manifold, or deleting lines that aren't attached to anything. These issues can cause Revit to ignore geometry.

You should also try shortcut DB to display back faces - if you see any red faces facing outward, you should select them and flip them (shortcut FF), so the red face (back face) faces towards the inside of the solid. Your FormIt model should have no red "warning" colors visible when DW (watertight) and DB (back faces) diagnostic options are enabled, so you know the model is solid and faces are oriented correctly before sending to Revit.

If you're still having issues, feel free to share the file here and we can investigate further.

@ttranSTEM6,

What version of FormIt and Revit are you using?

Thanks for responding. It's FormIt pro 2023 and Revit 2021.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. 😅 You'll want to upgrade to Revit 2022 or newer. Ideally 2023.

We rebuilt the FormIt -> Revit pipeline in 2022 which drastically improves speed and reliability. Then in 2023 we added FormIt <> Revit linking

Revit 2021 uses the old pipeline which is known for being slow and prone to failures, especially when it comes to SketchUp models, which are typically full of non-manifold edges and other modeling issues. You can try repairing the SketchUp model in FormIt, otherwise Revit 2022 or 2023 is probably your best bet.
