I'm trying to "Import FormIt to RVT" with the add-ins tab but it's grayed out, as wells as "Reload Families". I do have the add-ins "Convert SKP to FormIt" and "Convert RVT to FormIt" but I have no idea how to make these available to me.

This is happening simply because you are not in an active document in Revit.
Open a default template, such as the "Architectural Template", then have a look at your drop down, the tools should be available to you.

To access FormIt Converter, in Revit, click Add-Ins, and select a tool from the FormIt panel.
