Am i dead in the water using Revit LT (i am set to go full monty Revit upon my renewal date but it would be good to do some testing while things are slow). So i see no way of utilizing the free converter in Revit LT is that correct.  Also no way of exporting from Sketchup without the pro version. . . so i am sunk right?

Hi Rohoyle,

I cannot assist with the SKP side of things, as I am not very familiar with the software.

Unfortunately you are correct with the LT version, because Revit LT does not support Add-ins, you cannot use the converter to get Formit into Revit LT. You could export as something like a SAT or DXF file to get into Revit LT, but then you lose all functionality and it will just come through as a solid mass that cannot be manipulated.

I really hope that Autodesk do eventually provide a link from Formit to Revit LT, as I get this question all the time, and I think it would be a fantastic solution for companies who do not require the full version of Revit, but for now, the option is not available.

I hope this helps!

Confirming Mitchell's comments - I believe that Add-ins in general do not run in Revit LT - and that would include the FormIt Converter.

There are a few other nuances to be aware of...

- When you save your FormIt file to A360 then the cloud automatically creates an RVT file for you. This will help you bypass the add-in limitation in Revit LT. This is a cloud service, and not as 'direct' as using a Revit based command - but it still helps. Note that the cloud service creates Revit 2018 RVT - so you will need to be on that version of LT.

- FormIt geometry defaults to being a Mass element in Revit. Revit LT ALSO doesn't support Mass geometry and related tools. You can visualize masses, but you cannot use 'wall by face' , 'floor by face'  , and 'curtain system by face' tools. You can set FormIt geometry to be 'generic' model category instead - and this will import to Revit LT as expected.

I hope this helps, and I echo Mitchell's comments - it would be nice to see a better workflow between FormIt and Revit LT. I will follow up with the Revit LT group with this feedback. Thank you!

Tobias
