Import DWG to Formit 2017

I already stated an issue on the blog site, but since this is a better page to do it I will repeat my question with some additional information.

I am new to FormIt and downloaded the latest version of your website about a week ago. I am using a pro account to check out several features of FormIt.

I was trying to import a simple 2D autocad sketch into a testfile, but nothing happened, although i read on the forum that a native dwg import function had been implemented recently. Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

Update: Whilst trying several times it actually worked once, but the file was scattered all around (lines were not in original position). I deleted and kept trying but without succes.
Attached you will find the dwg i'm trying to import.

FormIt test file can be found here:

Thanks again.

Hi a.vandenbergh,

I just did the test myself, and to get the Autocad file into Formit, you will need to open it in AutoCAD and export it as a SAT(ACIS) file.

Once you have done that, go to formit and head over to "File" > "Import" > "Import 3D model" > select your file and say open.

You should see your drawing in Formit now.

Hope this helps!

Hi a.vandenbergh,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This DWG file should have imported to FormIt without issues, but I'm seeing oddities similar to what you describe. We'll take a look at this and try to fix it for the next FormIt update.

In the mean time, Mitchell's suggestion should help you get past this. Sorry for the inconvenience.
