Project deleted!

I had an amazing skyscraper that took me five hours straight to make. It was everything I needed for my homework assignment. I multi tasked to an other app then back to this one. I clicked on my project and it came up with a message saying FILE NOT AVAILABLE, then it brought me back to my project screen. THIS IS SO HORRIBLE! I saved it before, I can't get back on it either. Please help me.

I am sorry you are having trouble. It looks like the file was corrupted. A couple of things you can try.

  • It looks like the file was sync-ed to your A360 account (since the cloud icon is white.) If you log into your FormIt folder in A360 using a desktop browser. Right-click on the AXM file and choose Versions. You can then roll it back to a previous version. Go back to FormIt on the iPad and "pull down" on the Gallery page to reload.
  • If this does not work, please reply to this post and attach the AXM file (downloaded from A360) and we can take a look.
  • Which version of FormIt are you using? Please tap the (i) Info button and tap About look at App Version at the top of the page

I'm sorry but I don't understand. I am using the iOS iPad app with the formit version 8.1. I tried signing in on the computer and it tried to create me another account. I don't know what you mean with all these A360 acronyms and stuff too. Help?

I can see from your screenshot that your FormIt on iOS is logged into Autodesk 360 (because the user icon is solid blue.)  Also, since the cloud icons on each of your files is white (and not gray) that means they have been saved to the Autodesk 360 account that you logged into with. So, go to http://360.autodesk.com on your desktop/laptop and log in with the same user name/password. From there, you can click on Documents, then go to the FormIt folder. Inside that folder you will see each of your files with an .AXM file extension. Right click on the file and choose Download. Then, reply to mne and attach that AXM file.

When I try to post with the AXM file IT comes up with this message. I Filled Everthing Out Too.

Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

  • The file does not have a valid extension for an attachment. 3ds,asx,bm,bmp,cfz,csv,dbf,dcl,doc,dst,dwf,dwfx,dwg,dxf,eco,env,esri,f3d,gif,gz,gzip,iam,idw,ipn,ipt,jfif,jpe,jpeg,jpg,log,lsp,nc,nc1,nwc,nwd,nwf,pat,pdf,pdf,pkt,png,png,prj,psd,rar,rfa,rtd,rvt,sat,sdf,sdf,sdf2,sdf3,shp,shx,step,stp,svf,text,tif,tiff,txt,vcf,vtf,vtfx,xls,xml,zip are the valid extensions.

I am still waiting for the forum administrators to add AXM as a supported file format.

In the meantime, use this upload form instead:

I got the file, but it appears to be empty. The next thing to try is to log back into 360.autodesk.com, click on the skyscraper.axm file, and then click Versions. From there, you should see previous versions. You can click the little "clock" icon to roll back to an earlier version

Thank you so much for your help.  Using your instructions I was able to find an older version of the project.  It's quite a bit different than the version I lost, but at least it's something.  Can you explain how I may have lost the file and how I can prevent it from happening again?  Should I be saving more frequently or should I be backing it up somewhere?

Thanks again.

Honestly, I am not sure what happened. FormIt is normally very good at restoring the last good state of the model if the app crashes. Somehow, your file got corrupted and emptied. Saving more often cannot hurt!
