import model issue

So this is my first time working with Formit so forgive me if this is a dummy question. I have built a massing model in Formit and imported it into revit 2020. When I import the model via "add-ins"-->"import formit to rvt", the model shows up as its first floor floor plan, but nowhere else. If I open a 3-d view it is impossible to see no matter if you use ZE. It also does not show on the elevations. The targets are placed properly around the model so that is not the issue.

Any ideas on how to make this formit model appear?

Hi @Anonymous,

I think you'll need to use the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog in Revit to visualize the FormIt geometry, which probably came in as a Mass (this is the default category in FormIt):

  • In the Revit view, hit shortcut VV or VG on the keyboard to pull up the dialog
  • Click on a row and type M, or scroll down to "Mass", and check the box
  • You should see the FormIt geometry once you hit Apply

In FormIt, every Group becomes a Revit Family. You can edit the FormIt Group, and pull up the Properties panel (top-most icon in the tabs on the right), and choose a different category to control how it will convert to Revit. You can read more about this here.

Hope this helps!

It was a VG issue. Thank you!
