How to Import Formit to Revit?

Models seem to come in as Import Symbol, not mass?  Was hoping to use the wall from face tool to convert to Revit geometry.

Hi @Melville3ZFH5! Thanks for reaching out.

A few releases ago, we drastically improved the performance and reliability of the FormIt -> Revit pipeline. This had the unforunate side-effect of switching to Import Symbol as you mention, which limits the by-face tools in some situations.

Luckily, there is a workaround, which is listed in the FormIt + Revit help docs: You can import the FormIt model into a Mass-category family (then load it into a Revit project) to take advantage of Levels, Mass Floors, and By Face tools and apply Revit system families to FormIt geometry.

Hope this helps!

hey thanks for pointing this out.  all the youtube videos i saw were very misleading bc that massing feature is no longer available unless using the workaround.
with regards to the workaround, does it detect the levels you create in FORMIT ?
im trying to find more value to the "import-symbol" format, but not sure is that beneficial.  it doesnt allow for much flexibility.  the "import-symbol" format is treated like a linked model and makes it feel like the whole model is grouped into one agglomeration of uneditable elements inside REVIT.  Now I cant edit one, or a few, elements within the "import-symbol" format. And I cant add levels or treat it as a massing element to turn them into REVIT elements either.
What are everyones tendencies when using FORMiT ? it seems im misunderstanding the actual use, but the potential to do what my brain immediately thought would be possible, is there
