Creating Street Views with FormIt

I am new to using Formit and trying to use it to create a street scene for a project that can be imported into Revit. Is this the ideal programme to use to do this, we will need to model adjacent buildings to a degree of detail that shows the windows and roof profiles as in the example below which we modelled in SketchUp, is this achievable in Formit? I have also added the street scenes we will be looking to replicate in a digital modelling format.

Antony,
I believe Formit doesn't have the resource to put an eye-height-camera precisely. What I've been doing is to use lines, set planes and human figures as references. Despite that lack of tool, I think it is perfect to do what you intend.

Hi Antony,

Thanks for writing in. FormIt will work great for this! We have an assortment of excellent solid modeling tools that are powerful but easy to use, as well as diagnostic tools that help ensure the model geometry is clean and ready to be converted to Revit. Like SketchUp, we have support for Materials, Groups, Scenes, Layers, and more. In fact, you can easily open or import SketchUp models into FormIt while retaining all the data I mentioned above. We also offer Visual Styles options like shadows and surface/edge styles, and analysis services like Solar Analysis and Energy Analysis.

As you already noted elsewhere, we are experiencing a temporary issue with Google Maps satellite imagery on Windows and iOS. This will be fixed soon, but in the meantime you can use the FormIt Web app which is unaffected by the satellite image outage.

If you want to get familiar with some of the basic FormIt functionality you can check out our FormIt Primer.  You can also learn about opening SketchUp files and cleaning up the model in preparation for conversion to Revit.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help with as you start to play around with FormIt.

Josh,

Thank you for your reply, we have since modelled what we needed for our model and so far it has worked out fine however will need to learn some before we can use FormIt to its full potential.

Your links were most helpful and I much appreciate your input and help with this.

Once again many thanks,

Antony
