Black screen using Internet Explorer 11

Hello! 

I have been using FormIt 360 on Chrome for quite some time, however most of our office uses Internet explorer 11 (mandated by our IT department through Group Policy, I simply have a special permission).

 

My problem started when I told others in the company to start using FormIt 360 in their browsers as a new workflow into Revit. Unfortunately, all anyone gets is a BLACK SCREEN, or more specifically a black viewport and workspace. The tools are available, but the workspace is completely black. See attached image below. 

 

We have IE11

Version 11.0.9600.17959

Update Versions: 11.00.22 (KB3078071)

 

Any solutions to this? Is this an IE11 issue? Is it a FormIt issue with IE? Is it a DirectX issue? GPU? 

Again, it works brilliantly with Chrome, only have the issue with IE11. have not tried Firefox.

Hi William - I am sorry to hear this story! We have definitely heard of this happening - and we need to actively block IE due to this issue.

 

The simple answer is that IE does not work for FormIt, because of their lack of support for WebGL. Chrome and Firefox are both great - and even Safari will work when you enable WebGL. But IE just doesn't support FormIt. The newer 'Edge' browser from Microsoft in Windows 10 will work well - but Internet Explore just won't.

 

There really isn't a workaround for the problem you have either - maybe a few more FormIt 'testers' can be given special permission to test out Chrome?

I have the same problem using Chrome.  The screen is black.  Nothing displays. How do I fix this problem?

Hi Mark - I haven't heard of this issue on Chrome - so that's a new one! My suggestion is to double check you've got the latest Chrome browser (all updates are applied). Then if it still won't work, give Firefox a try - if you're still not having any luck on Chrome AND Firefox - there might be a problem on your system - like a strange Graphics Card, or something like that.

No real update. We still don't support IE, or Edge.

We have seen some odd-ness with black screens in Chrome - and it seems that disabling HW acceleration resolves or improves them.

Did you have anything specific that you were seeing on a particular system, Mike?

Chrome - shows a Black Screen on Loading

Running - Windows 10

-FormitPro Installed works - just not the web session.

I turned off Hardware Acceleration on Chrome - Formit Does not load at all, it does give me a WebGl Error.

Hi Mike,

 

This issue appears to be specific to certain hardware configurations.

 

Can you tell us what graphics card you're running on this system? Also, assuming it's not a custom-built tower, what brand is the machine in question?

Graphics Card is AMD FirePro W4300 - Tower was "custom built" HPZ240.
