Is it possible to import my own site data into Autodesk Forma (DWG/DWF)?

Hi everyone,

I have a question that might be common for users working in Brazil.
Here, the street and parcel base maps available in Autodesk Forma are often quite outdated, which is understandable given how quickly our cities change.

My question is:

Is there a way to import my own site information into Forma?
For example, using a DWG or DWF file from a topographic survey or even official GIS data from my city’s government website.

The idea is to replace or supplement Forma’s existing base with more accurate local data, such as contours, boundaries, road alignments, etc.

Or, is there a recommended workflow for that? For exemplo, starts a site model in revit and next put in autodesk forma for my building studies?

Thanks for the great question! 
You can import your own site data to Forma through the Library > Import function. Forma currently supports DXF files for 2D geometry, plus IFC and OBJ for 3D models, with a max size of 100MB. For cases with detailed site modeling, starting in Revit can be a good option. Build your site with accurate contours, boundaries, and alignments, then send it to Forma.

This way, Revit remains your source of truth for precise site data, while Forma is used for design studies and environmental analysis.

Yes, you can usually bring your own site data into Forma by starting with a clean site model in Revit or Civil 3D and then importing/linking it into Forma for early-stage analysis. DWG works better than DWF in most workflows, especially for topography and parcel lines. I’ve seen similar “custom data vs platform data” issues even on lighter tools like delta ipa, where the key is always preparing clean GIS/DWG inputs first before bringing them in

This doesn't appear to work with a DWG, such as an existing condition survey - is there a different method to bring in CAD file in DWG format?

Importing your own site data would be really useful, especially when the available base data doesn't fully match the conditions of a specific project like I did for cdrama. If DWG or other survey data can be brought into Forma, I’d also be interested in how the platform handles differences between the imported information and its existing site context. Being able to identify that delta clearly would make it easier to validate terrain, boundaries, and other site constraints before using the data for design decisions.

The Revit-to-Forma workflow makes a lot of sense when the existing base data is outdated. I’m especially interested in how others handle existing-condition surveys when the DWG import doesn’t work as expected. Keeping the site data accurate before starting the design studies seems really important.
