Concern! Why does Forma recommend BINDING Revit links?

Hi Team,

We’ve noticed that as part of the current Revit and Forma interoperability, the Forma team recommends binding Revit links

However, this is highly discouraged practice for projects that are still in progress, where Revit models continue to be updated.

While binding is acceptable for completed designs, it causes significant issues for wip projects, which are essentially the primary use case for Forma, so we are quite concerned this is the official recommendation. 

Has this been considered? How is this expected to be resolved?

It's just a limitation on the current extension. Revit models cannot be sent to Forma if they are links. At AU 2025 they announced Revit to "eventually" become their first Forma Connected Client, so you may find at some point this becomes your workflow: Revit Becomes a Forma Connected Client: Bridging Cloud and Desktop with the Forma Industry Cloud - A...

Hey @sandra_petkuteHNRTB! It is indeed, as Steve says, a limitation caused by the design of the add-in. It is but a pragmatic decision to get this workflow going under the circumstances and as you, rightfully say not in tune with overall best practice. With the Connected Client experience announced at AU, we aim to do better and resolve this albeit with another approach entirely.
