I wanted to make a product feature request for Forma. A very beneficial feature would be the ability to add custom point noise sources (i.e. mechanical equipment or a nearby outdoor event venue) and air traffic noise from overhead flight paths or runways. Both scenarios become frequent project design drivers, and it can be very difficult to evaluate the effectiveness of early noise intervention strategies. My personal goal with requesting these features are:
- Not be a replacement of an acoustician but for greater collaboration with one. There is a critical lag time between developing proposals, evaluating them, incorporating feedback, then re-testing before a final direction is settled upon.
- Greater ability to communicate (visually) to our clients how our design proposals mitigate noise pollution from sources on the proposal's property or from sources originating on neighboring properties.
For the point noise sources, access to omni directional sources and directional sources would be most beneficial if feasible.
