Any workarounds to Exceed the Site Area Limit?

The master plan I'm working on is larger than the available size limit.

Jo

Hi,

Unfortunately, this limit can not be circumvented. We have no specific plans to support larger site areas in the near future.

Hi Kristoferr,

I am also in this predicament as I work with larger urban/masterplan scales. Do you have a suggestion or workaround for this as I very much want to use Forma for the study development.

Many thanks!

Tayra

Hi Tayra,

Thank you for your interest in Forma. Unfortunately we do not have workarounds for this at the moment - other than possibly creating multiple sites next to each other and that together cover the whole study area. At the same time, I am aware that this can be rather cumbersome.

Best regards,

Hi Kristoffer,
So can you tell us why it used to work, where we could get big sites around 5km x 5km 12 months ago?

As this is a major for us as well.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

I am afraid I don't have more details on that, so I don't know what the reasons could be. It might be that you have been included in a program where selected users can try out non-released experimental features. And since then, that feature has not been finalised and made part of the product.

Hi Jo, this is a common challenge with large-scale master plans. One workaround I've seen is to split the project into multiple linked files or site areas, depending on the software you're using. This lets you work on different zones independently while keeping performance manageable. Also, check if there's a way to adjust model detail levels or purge unused elements to reduce file size. Hopefully, future updates will ease these limitations!

Hi Forma Team,

Reviving this thread in the hope there might be any updates? 🙃
I am working on 645hectar new town development, but the two sites under one project make it tricky to have coherent studies done and metrics exported.

Meanwhile, any suggestions/tutorials on how best to link sites so they don't overlap would be helpful!

Thanks
