Problem statement: While creating new projects, we need to describe all information regarding the project and the workspace and the information available in ACC (Project Admin) is not enough for us.
Desired action/outcome: Business requires to been able to create extra customized fields to the project information in order to reuse this information while extracting via the Data Connector.
Current issue/challenges: Fields available in project information are very limited and not precise enough.
Current workaround: Using the Project number field that it’s still a free text field.
When looking at the post above we can agree that the data fields that are available when setting up a new project are quite few. There is as far as we know not a possibility to add further fields for identifying the project.
My comment is placed from the perspective : being an engineering company that creates designs for Owner Operator under our own project umbrella. The engineering work is share with our customer, our engaged contractors, the customers main contractor, customers contractor using ACC.
In our engineering systems we have many project properties such as:
UN nation country code for the country where the plant is located
Customer ERP ID code (our ERP system)
Customer Name
Project Code (in ERP system)
Project Name (in ERP system)
Project popular name (project alias)
Customer Plant City (in ERP system)
Today we are "forced" to name the project in such a way that we can recognize/match it towards our ERP, acc. to this naming method:
[ 1 Country ] _ [ 2 Customer No + Cust.Name + City (first 3 charact) ] _ [ 3 ERP Project Number - Project Name ]
This makes the project name very long.
