Click to change the shape of an object and it would bring up a window showing shapes from an online library of shapes. The library would be tagged and searchable. Selecting a shape would download it and apply to the object.
I suggest linking to one or more existing online 3D shape repositories, rather than trying to create and maintain our own repository. This helps us leverage larger communities built around creating and sharing 3D shapes. Our focus is simulation software - an online 3D warehouse is someoneelse'sbusiness.
We could submit our own curated shapes, optimized for use in FlexSim, to a public repository like that, yet still have a wider universe of 3D shapes available through the same portal. A search through FlexSim's interface could favor our curated shapes but still show other related shapes. Especially as I can't see us having more than several dozens or hundreds of shapes, even over the course of years, but a dedicated 3D shape community pumps out that many new shapes every hour.
