Shadows in RTX mode

[ FlexSim 22.2.3 ]

Hi, is there a way to turn off shadows in RTX mode? When I disable shadows in the settings they remain in RTX mode.

RTX mode looks beautiful, however it also looks very dark and cluttered with shadows.

Thank you

There's no 'daylight/skydome' feature in FlexSim but you can edit the lighting and expreriment until you get the effect you want. Click in free model space and in quick properties you'll see the light sources you can edit along with an ambient light picker.

With just ambient light the brightest I could get it was this.

You can find more information about editing the lights here.

You could also add a suggestion that the developers add a daylight lighting system or gamma setting or allow the ambient light to affect RTX mode or all of these.

You can use Nvidia driver settings to prevent any shadows. It is a tweak in gamers community to disable shadows.

Thanks Joerg, do you know where to find this setting? Or the name of it? I cannot seem to find it in Nvidia settings control panel.

Thank you, I'll play around with the lighting.

Is there a link to create suggestions to developers?

You can post it using the create menu at the top of the page - especially if you want to enter discussion on the forum or see the popularity of your idea:

Or if you want to just log it as an interest with the developer without any feedback you can email dev at flexsim.com

I posted a workaround with grid of lights in reply to this idea.

Also you may have better results with the lights added from the library for area and that reside in the model location (added 2020 - I missed that addition).

Hi Vogel. I've come up with the same problem. I tried the NVIDIA App to do some settings, but it seemed that NVIDIA could not recognize the Flexsim, and no options about RTX could be seen in the UI.

I wonder about the exact procedure that you have taken to get this done.

Appreciated it if you could share with us.

With the NVIDIA Control Panel, you can go through Manage 3D Settings, click on the Program Settings tab, and click on the Add button to add FlexSim and change settings for the program that way. If you have multiple versions of FlexSim, you will have to add each one individually.

However, I don't know if any of the settings that can be changed in the Control Panel will affect RTX Mode in FlexSim. If the issue is the model looks too dark while in RTX Mode, I suggest making changes to the lighting like Jason suggested.
