[ FlexSim 16.2.2 ]

Hi,

A customer needs to open an old model built in FlexSim 16.2, but the software does not launch. He has Windows 10 version 20H2.

Here is the log from the event viewer:

Faulting application name: flexsim.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x58218b1e

One of my colleagues also has Windows 10 version 20H2, and he gets the same issue as our customer: FlexSim 16.2 does not start.

On the other side, FlexSim 16.2 works fine on my computer. I have Windows 10 version 1909.

The customer reported that FlexSim 16.2 was working fine a few months ago. So our guess is that a Windows update messed around with that application. He uninstalled 16.2, reinstalled it, same issue.

Would you have a workaround ?

Hi @Clair A,

A fairly recent Windows Update (September 8, 2020) breaks FlexSim versions 7.7.0-16.2.2.

In my testing, you must uninstall KB4571756. After doing so, my FlexSim 7.7 and 16.x installations start just fine.

I've created a new section at the bottom of that installation/startup issues article for issues that specifically affect only older versions of the software, including the previously-numbered 5 point that Jorg mentioned (the openSSL issue at the bottom of the article).

The main suggestions in the article are more version-agnostic and remain at the top.

The new issue I mentioned in my Answer above has been added to that new bottom section listing issues that exist only for older FlexSim versions.
