[ FlexSim 23.0.1 ]

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out because I'm experiencing some issues with FlexSim. I'm unable to open any version of FlexSim as the theme appears briefly and then closes automatically. I'm not sure what's causing this sudden problem.

The installation and startup issues article linked by @Joerg Vogel is a great resource. In particular, your described symptom sounds a lot like the OpenSSL issue found near the bottom of the article that has previously only affected version 20.2 or older.

You may try the Internet-connection workaround described there. If that doesn't work, all the other suggestions are also on the table as possible solutions.

Please report back if you find a solution to your problem. Or if you have tried everything but your installation is still crashing, please provide additional information you may have learned in doing those tests, along with other important information like operating system, hardware, screenshots, etc.

Good luck!

Dear @Joerg Vogel and @Ben Wilson , I have tried some solutions to fix the issue, but unfortunately, the problem still persists. The model appears on the screen, but I am unable to perform any actions, and after a few minutes, it automatically closes. I am hesitant to reinstall the software because I am concerned that my license may not work.

So As a result, I am left with a stagnant screen for several minutes without any ability to make changes or progress. Ultimately, the application closes by itself.

@MPeyman Not being able to interact with a model right after opening suggests one of the following:
  1. an onModelOpen trigger that gets into an infinite loop
  2. an onDraw trigger that gets into an infinite loop
  3. a graphics issue (I think this one is less likely, but still possible).

To troubleshoot #1 or #2, can you attach your model?

Hey @MPeyman, I'm able to open and run the model you posted fine. I don't see any onModelOpen triggers or other possible issues. Does your computer meet the minimum system requirements? Have you tried uninstalling FlexSim and reinstalling it?

@MPeyman , does your computer meet FlexSim's requirements?

You might try again some of those startup suggestions. With your current issue, I would start with removing your old prefs.t file.

If you are using network licensing, this usually means you'll need to reenter your license server information. If you're using standalone licensing, then your license is already in Trusted Storage and persists regardless of FlexSim removal or installation. Learn more here.

@MPeyman Sorry for the continued troubles.

At this point it would be best to coordinate live support with your local distributor @Marcello Rosadini . If necessary he can contact us to join the web meeting to see if we can figure out your unique situation.

Marcello, will you please coordinate with MPeyman to help with this issue? Let me know if I can join you on a meeting.

Hello @MPeyman,

When you open FlexSim and that load screen goes away, do you still see it in the task bar of your computer? The application may be opening off the screen. I had this issue starting earlier this week when my graphics driver updated. To resolve it I followed the suggestions on this microsoft support post

Dear @Jeanette F, Well, I contacted Marcello yesterday, I think it is the problem with OpenGL. I updated my NVIDIA and everything, and just now once FlexSim comes up when I want to open one of my models, it gets stuck again and comes out, then again it gets stuck on OpenGL and I can not open it.

@MPeyman , can you send a screenshot of your Help > About FlexSim popup? It includes some graphics information that I'd like to check out.

Dear @Ben Wilson , The only things I can get from flexsim is this. after updated I got the first page of flexsim but then when I wanted open the model it came out and after that got stuck from the begining. I think there is some conflict between openGL and flexsim.

Hi @MPeyman ,

A screenshot like this of the device manager and the Properties>Driver information for your GPU would be helpful:

Hi @MPeyman ,

While your graphics card does support FlexSim's minimum requirement of support for OpenGL 3.1, due to the age of your GPU you don't technically meet the recommendation "To meet minimum requirements for performance, compatibility, and vendor support (such as driver updates) we recommend a GPU produced within the last 5 years".

You can see in your screenshot that your driver is from 2017. Nvidia does provide a newer driver for your 740M from 2019. It is probably worth giving it a try.

Please download the latest driver for your 740M graphics directly from Nvidia's drivers site. Enter your information to get a link to the best driver for your GPU:

Here is a direct link to the latest driver found after doing the search in the screenshot. I made some assumptions about your operating system, etc, so you may want to do your own search if the parameters in the screenshot are not accurate for your system.

Perhaps the newer driver will enable you to get past the Nvidia crash you're experiencing. After installing the latest driver and rebooting, you should see a newer driver version when you look at your GPU properties in Windows Device Manager.

Let us know your latest results after installing the latest driver.

Good luck!
