[ FlexSim 20.1.2 ]

Hi,

Because of the layout ,I need to change the angle of the straight conveyor but I can't find the function in Conveyor Type.

For example I want to change a 30 degree on straight conveyor but I only change the angle by move conveyor or change angle by Script.

If I can't change angle , maybe happen the problem in the layout planning.

Please add this angle function in Conveyor Type.

thanks,

I think I understand what you are wanting. As it seems you know, the angle of the conveyor is a function of the start height and end height. I have done many conveyor projects and luckily, it appears, I have never ran into needing a precise angle. However, the angle would be correct if the start and end heights are correct. If you forced the conveyor to be an exact angle you would have to change lengths of your other conveyor to compensate for that change. I am guessing that that is why it doesn't work that way. I change the angle without changing the start and end points, by clicking on the red size arrow and using the scroll wheel. This obviously changes the size of the conveyor, but if you are building on top of a cad drawing, most of the time all you know are the start and end locations and the height.

When I fix the length of the straight conveyor and I don't want to change the length by changing the angle.

I only change the angle by move conveyor or change angle by Script.

@steven.chen, please think about it again. If you get an angle by drag, what do you need next? - An axis of rotation, a location of a rotational axis at a height of the shape, object frame or kinematic layer, a tolerance of snap points, a tangential alignment of transfer points. I ran in many problems, if I try to rotate a single conveyor in a system.

By the way, have you tried to put the conveyor on a plane object and rotate the plane? I know the feet won’t align normal to the floor anymore, but you are able to rotate the conveyor anyway. Regards Jörg

Hi,I have a another question

So when I fix the curved conveyor is start angle is -90 and sweep angle is 30,so its angle is 30 and I want to add a straight conveyor to connect curved conveyor,although I can directly change the straight conveyor to connect curved conveyor,but the straight conveyor angle is not always be 30.

So I want to have a UI to change z rotation,it can be correct to connect to curved conveyor and accord with layout.

Please refer to the following

@steven.chen,

If I understand correctly, you would like to be able to do what is shown in the gif below, but in one step. Is that correct? Something that would "snap" the conveyor to the angle of another conveyor?

I think this is a good idea. You should post a new idea so that more users see this.

Yes that's exactly what i want

So when I fix the conveyor length,I only change the conveyor z angle.

That will correctly accord with layout.

I think it's a good function to FlexSim user when we create conveyor and need to change it's angle.

Do you have any plan to add this function to FlexSim?

@steven.chen

Conveyors are defined using a start point and an end point.

If you want to just rotate a conveyor without changing its length, you could do this:

  1. Move the Conveyor into a Visual Tool.
  2. Rotate the Visual Tool.
  3. Move the Conveyor back into the model.

That will let you define a specific rotation without changing the conveyor's length or calculating its end points yourself.

Hi @phil.bobo, can you build an object with a dashboard that does this as a tool like.

Select objects

  • Apply selection with dashboard button
  • Set rotation angle as input field in dashboard
  • OK button
