FLAME launch failure

Hi!

Running FLAME 2019 on Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1 on a fairly new [2 year old] iMac 5K, 16Gb RAM - all other applications run OK.

FLAME used to launch perfectly, time after time, no issues. Today, FLAME launches OK after start-up, but if exited, FLAME won't launch again & despite not having launched, Mac won't shut down, i.e. warning dialogue says to quit FLAME first, despite FLAME having failed to launch & is not actually running, however FLAME does appear in Force Quit Applications menu, but won't quit, to allow Mac restart, or Mac shutdown - only way to shutdown is to hold down the on/off button.

Only difference between today & yesterday is I uninstalled SMART technologies - I have no SMART technologies peripherals - mouse only - and it wasn't possible to stop SMART technologies automatically launching at iMac start-up.

It'd be great to get FLAME launching as reliably as it did up until today!

Another issue is FLAME loses clips in sequences, after saving & exiting FLAME, on relaunch, sequence has clips missing - this is annoying, as the sequence has to be rebuilt - lost clip from sequence appears as a blank player when in Triptych viewing mode, although clip still visibly present on timeline - also the scrubber vanishes for the missing clip. If the missing clip is dragged back onto the timeline, sometimes it appears to fix the issues other times it doesn't, i.e. the viewer for the centre clip remains blank &/or has no scrubber if clip visible in viewer - no vertical coloured line. Blank clip stays blank, even when the scrubbers for other visible clips are used.

Perfectly happy for you to remote control my iMac to resolve issue - possibly a FLAME re-installation? Scared to attempt uninstall myself before asking for advice, as it may be unnecessary, plus I had as so much trouble with re-installing FLAME after upgrading Mac OS last time...

Can arrange this tonight, or on Friday daytime - UK GMT - but not here for all of next week: 25.05.19 - 01.06.19

My UK mobile No. is +44 7791 112 896 & my email address is matt@vedic.ninja

Cheers,

Matt

For your issue with the failure to launch/close.  From the terminal, you can try:
killall launchservicesd
killall Dock

This should get you to a point where you can restart your computer or relaunch Flame.

Hi mattCP8JG,

On top of Beau's suggestion,  it will be good to know what's up when you exit Flame, from terminal see if there's any Flame stale process with this command:

ps -e |grep flame

Let us know the result here or if you spotted a process like "DADispatcherService". If there is, kill it as per Beau's suggestion or you may kill this from the Activity Monitor or from terminal "kill -9 <DADispatcherService-PID>. See if that would relaunch Flame. If this is what causing the Flame not to exit properly, please make sure that your firewall is not blocking any site to/from autodesk.com domain.

Regards,

Jeff

Hi!

I’ve now installed FLAME 2020 & at the moment, at least, it’s working & relaunching perfectly, without the need for an Emergency Shutdown.

Very many thanks for all suggestions!
